Please download the dataset:
Now's your opportunity to apply what you've learned about creating dimension filters in Tableau.
Your manager has an upcoming meeting with the sales representatives from various regions. Need to present data that answers the following questions:
Which products generate low to no profit?
Which regions have the lowest profit?
In your analysis, you have found that the Furniture category has the lowest profit in most regions. Create a view that narrows down the data to the Furniture category and allows your manager to see data for each region separately.
Create a filter for Category to show only Furniture items.
Open the starter file Dimensionfilterstarter.twbx from your saved location.
Drag Category to the Filters shelf. (Note: Category is in the Product hierarchy)
On the General tab, clear Office Supplies and Technology, and then click OK
Create a filter for Region and display it as a single value list.
Drag Region from the Data pane to the Filters shelf. (Note: Region is in the Location hierarchy)
On the General tab, select All to include all items, and then click OK.
On the Filters shelf, click the drop-down arrow next to the Region filter, and select Show Filter.
Display the drop-down menu for the Region filter card and select Single Value (list).
Change the title of the Region filter to Select a Region.
Click the drop-down arrow on the Region filter card and select Edit Title.
In the Edit Title dialog box, type Select a Region and click OK.
Select different regions to see the impact of the filters, and notice how the AND logic is being applied. The results are based on the criteria for both filters.
